ABC of Caviar

Placing caviar on a woman’s body and tasting it straight from the skin… It’s a common fantasy.

It was inspired by “nyotaimori”, the Japanese practice of serving sushi and sashimi on a naked woman’s body. This presentation allows the fish to be brought to room temperature for optimal tasting.

It was actor David Niven, the first James Bond, who transposed the idea to caviar, confiding that he had once used his partner’s body as a “caviar set” during his lovemaking. Later, Monica Bellucci made headlines by posing naked, covered in caviar, for the cover of Esquire magazine. The portrait, photographed by Fabrizio Ferri in 2001, became a worldwide hit. A few years later, he recounted the behind-the-scenes story of this memorable shoot: At the end of the shoot, he had tasted the grains on the actress’ body. The hairdresser and his assistants did the same, as did Monica Bellucci, who took a few bites. Under the pretence of not wasting anything, “they had a lot of fun”!
